Udupi, Jun 24: The school cabinet for the academic year 2026–27 and clubs were inaugurated at Mount Rosary English Medium School, Santhekatte, with a call to students to embrace democratic values and responsible leadership.
Addressing the gathering, Fr Melwyn Mendonca SJ, principal of Milagres Pre-University College, said that the school cabinet serves as a platform for students to understand democracy and the Constitution of India in a practical manner. He emphasised that a true leader is not one who merely assigns tasks to others, but one who leads by example and actively participates in the work.

During the ceremony, Fr Dr Roque D’Souza, school correspondent, administered the oath of office to Leona Ruth D’Souza, who was elected school leader, and Akshaya Ganiga, the deputy school leader. He stressed the importance of treating everyone equally, describing it as the true essence of democracy.
