Puttur: Kasargod youth dies, Kokkada rider critically injured as two motorcycles collide on NH-75

Puttur, June 24: A motorcyclist was killed on the spot and another sustained serious injuries in a devastating collision involving two bikes at Periyashanthi in Kokradi village on the Bengaluru–Mangaluru National Highway 75 on Wednesday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Rijesh V (33), a resident of Erikkulam in Kasaragod district. The injured rider has been identified as Girish, a resident of Halingeri in Kokkada village.

According to available information, Girish was travelling from Gundya towards Kokkada on his motorcycle. As he attempted to turn his bike towards Kokkada near Periyashanthi, another motorcycle approaching from behind crashed into his vehicle.

Rijesh, who was travelling on the other motorcycle from Bengaluru towards Mangaluru, was flung onto the road by the force of the impact and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Girish suffered serious injuries in the accident and was immediately rescued by local residents and passers-by. After being administered first aid, he was shifted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for advanced treatment.

The body of the deceased was shifted to the Government Hospital in Puttur for further procedures.

Personnel from the Nelyadi Outpost police station visited the spot, conducted an inspection and registered a case.

Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
