Brazil top Group C with dominant win; Morocco seal knockout berth

Miami, Jun 25: Brazil finished top of Group C after a commanding 3-0 victory over Scotland, while Morocco booked their place in the knockout stage with an impressive 4-2 comeback win over Haiti.

Carlo Ancelotti's Brazil maintained their unbeaten record in the group stage thanks to a brace from Vinicius Junior and a second-half strike from Matheus Cunha. The victory ensured Brazil finished as group leaders for the 12th consecutive edition of the tournament.

Scotland entered the match knowing a positive result would significantly boost their qualification hopes and enjoyed considerable possession during the opening half. However, a costly defensive error allowed Brazil to take an early lead and shift the momentum firmly in their favour.

After going ahead, Brazil adopted a disciplined approach, defending compactly and looking to exploit spaces on the counterattack. Vinicius proved a constant threat, repeatedly troubling the Scottish defence as they pushed forward in search of an equaliser.

Despite controlling possession for long periods, Scotland struggled to create clear-cut opportunities, with Brazil's organised backline restricting attacks in dangerous areas. Vinicius added his second before Cunha sealed the victory, highlighting Brazil's superior quality in the final third.

The match also marked a significant moment for Brazil as Neymar made his return in the 76th minute, appearing in national colours for the first time since October 2023 following a lengthy injury layoff.

In the other Group C encounter, Morocco fought back from behind twice to secure a thrilling 4-2 victory over Haiti. Achraf Hakimi, Ismael Saibari, Soufiane Rahimi and Yassine Kechta found the net as the North African side showcased their attacking prowess.

Haiti proved resilient and held the lead on two occasions, but Morocco responded strongly, particularly in the second half, to turn the contest in their favour and secure qualification.

Brazil and Morocco advance to the knockout rounds with confidence, while Scotland, who finished the group stage with three points, must wait to learn whether they qualify as one of the tournament's best third-placed teams.
