Bhubaneswar, Jun 26: A major fire broke out at a market complex in Odisha's Bolangir district early Friday, damaging at least eight shops, including an electric two-wheeler showroom, police said.

The incident occurred at the market complex in Gandhinagar Pada area of Bolangir town.

On receiving information, fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and launched an operation to bring the blaze under control. Two fire tenders were pressed into service to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby establishments.

Police said no casualties or injuries have been reported in the incident.

Preliminary findings suggest the fire may have been triggered by an electrical short circuit. However, officials said the exact cause will be determined after a detailed investigation.

The extent of the property loss is yet to be assessed. Authorities have initiated a probe into the incident.
