Udupi: Bank employee found dead in Udyavara river; police probe circumstances

Udupi, June 27: The body of a bank employee was found in the Papinashini River at Udyavara on Saturday, with police suspecting that he may have either accidentally slipped into the river or died by suicide.

The deceased has been identified as Riyaz (43), an employee of Canara Bank's Catholic Centre branch in Udupi.

According to preliminary information, police suspect that Riyaz may have accidentally slipped into the river and drowned. However, they have not ruled out the possibility of suicide, and the exact circumstances leading to his death are yet to be established.

On receiving information about the incident, personnel from Kapu police station rushed to the spot and conducted an inspection. The body was later shifted for post-mortem examination.

A case has been registered, and police have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death.
