Mapusa, Jun 29: A tragic incident involving a family from Sawantwadi has left the residents of Goa and Maharashtra shocked, with the deaths of three family members raising several questions. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths of a father, son and mother at their rented room in Karaswada, Goa.
According to police, the family originally belonged to Sonurli village in Sawantwadi taluk and had shifted to Goa about a year ago for work. The family was residing in a rented room at Sainagar area in Karaswada.
The deceased have been identified as Ajay Jadhav, who was employed at a private bank in Panaji, his wife Suvarna Jadhav, a homemaker, and their son Atharva, who was studying at a local school.
The incident came to light after Ajay spoke to his father, who lives in Sonurli, over the phone on Friday night. However, from Saturday morning onwards, Ajay stopped responding to calls. Worried after repeated attempts to contact him failed, his father travelled from Sonurli to Karaswada.
When he reached the rented room, he was shocked to find Ajay and his grandson Atharva lying motionless inside. He immediately called for an ambulance and arranged medical assistance.
Doctors who examined them confirmed that Ajay and Atharva had died, while Suvarna Jadhav was found in a critical condition. She was shifted to the Goa Medical College Hospital for further treatment. However, she later succumbed, adding another tragic turn to the incident.
After receiving information, a team from Mapusa police station reached the spot and conducted an inspection. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination.
Police are investigating all possible angles, including whether it was a case of a family suicide attempt due to personal issues, poisoning, or whether there is any other reason behind the deaths.
The sudden loss of the Jadhav family has left relatives and villagers in deep grief. The last rites of Ajay Jadhav and his son Atharva were conducted on Sunday afternoon at Jadhavwadi in Sonurli amid a sorrowful atmosphere.
With the death of Suvarna Jadhav as well, the mystery surrounding the deaths of all three family members remains unresolved. Mapusa police are continuing their detailed investigation into the case.
