Deoghar (Jharkhand), Jun 30: Panic gripped Nawadih village in Jharkhand's Deoghar district on Tuesday after the bodies of a woman and her son were found under suspicious circumstances, prompting police to launch a murder investigation.
The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Sonaraithari Police Station. Officials said a case of murder has been registered, and investigators are probing all possible angles behind the double killing.

The deceased have been identified as Jubeda Khatoon and her son.
Following information received from local residents, police rushed to the scene and secured the area. Given the gravity of the crime, Superintendent of Police Praveen Pushkar personally visited the spot to oversee the investigation.
A forensic science team and a dog squad were also deployed to collect physical evidence, while additional police personnel from four police stations joined the investigation and search operation.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and forensic experts are examining the crime scene for clues.
Police have begun questioning villagers and are investigating multiple possible motives, including family disputes, old rivalries and property-related issues. Authorities said the exact reason behind the murders has not yet been established.
Investigators are also looking into whether the latest killings have any connection with the murder of the family's head, Riaz Ahmad, nearly four years ago.
According to family members, Riaz Ahmad was allegedly hacked to death with a sharp weapon on July 15, 2022. They have claimed that the accused in that case were never arrested, leaving the family living in fear ever since. However, police have not confirmed any link between the two incidents.
The double murder has created tension in Nawadih village, with police appealing to residents to remain calm while the investigation continues.
The bereaved family has demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible for the killings.
Superintendent of Police Praveen Pushkar said the investigation is progressing on the basis of technical evidence, forensic findings and statements from local residents. He expressed confidence that the perpetrators would be identified and arrested soon.
