Mangaluru: St Ann’s College of Education (Autonomous) celebrates Graduation Day

Mangaluru, Jul 1: The Graduation Day of St Ann’s College of Education was held with solemnity and academic grandeur to celebrate the successful completion of the academic milestones by the Bed and MEd graduates.

The ceremony commenced with a solemn invocation of God’s blessings, followed by a graceful welcome dance. Dr Sr Dorothy D’Souza AC, principal, extended a warm welcome to the chief guest, Dr Ronald Nazareth, registrar, St Aloysius (Deemed to be University) Mangaluru, and to the president of the programme, Sr Marie Evelyn AC, joint secretary of St Ann’s Institutions and superior of St Ann’s Convent, Mangaluru, Dr Prof Flosy C R D’Souza, vice principal and Dr Sharmila L Mascarenhas, controller of examinations, St Ann’s College of Education, Mangaluru.

In his inspiring address, Dr Ronald Nazareth urged the graduates to embrace their calling with dedication, compassion, and a commitment to lifelong learning. He lauded them for choosing the noble profession of teaching, emphasizing that they have the privilege and responsibility of shaping young minds by imparting wisdom, values, and the cherished ideals of the institution while upholding its rich legacy.

Highlighting the institution’s significant contribution to society, he remarked that the history of Mangaluru would be incomplete without recognizing the remarkable service of the Sisters of the Apostolic Carmel. Through the educational institutions they have established, countless families across the region have experienced social advancement, empowerment, and meaningful transformation.

Dr Sharmila L Mascarenhas, controller of examinations, presented the academic toppers of the BEd and MEd programmes. Students who earned endowment prizes were also felicitated. Jahanavi Sanal V (MEd) and Rishel Oshin D’Almeida (BEd) were awarded gold medals.

The programme was elegantly compered by Loyan Crasta, while Vilma D’Souza, the convener, proposed the vote of thanks. The joyous occasion was witnessed by a vibrant gathering that included graduating students, their parents, and faculty members, the sisters of the campus, alumnae, and fellow students.
