Bantwal, Jul 1: Veteran philanthropist and respected community leader Kantadiguttu Ugga Shetty (85) passed away in the early hours of Wednesday following a brief illness. He was widely admired for his selfless service and significant contributions to the social and religious life of coastal Karnataka.
A guiding force behind several community initiatives, Ugga Shetty played a pivotal role in the successful organisation of the historic 'Suvarna Bimba' Mahotsav in Sajipa Magane, Bantwal taluk. Considered a landmark event in the region's history, the celebration was made possible through his vision, leadership and unwavering devotion to the presiding deities of Sajipa.

Paying tribute to the departed soul, Nagriguttu Vivek Shetty described him as a personification of humility, compassion and unwavering faith. He said Ugga Shetty had dedicated his life to social service and spirituality, earning the love and respect of people through his gentle nature, wisdom and noble character.
"His ideals, values and selfless service will continue to inspire future generations. His memories and contributions will remain etched in our hearts forever," Vivek Shetty said while expressing grief over his demise.
Ugga Shetty began his professional career in a senior position with a multinational company in Mumbai before moving to Chennai, where he successfully established and managed his own business. After retiring from active business a few years ago, he returned to his native place and spent his time serving society and participating in religious activities.
He is survived by his wife, a son, a daughter and a large circle of relatives and well-wishers.
Members of the Sajipa Magane community expressed deep sorrow over his passing and offered their heartfelt condolences, praying that his soul attains eternal peace and that his family is granted the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
