Dharmasthala police nab absconding accused in Andhra Pradesh after nine years

Mangaluru, July 1: A man who had been absconding for nearly nine years after failing to appear before the court in a theft case has been arrested by the Dharmasthala Police.

The accused, identified as Srinivasalu V., a resident of Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, was wanted in connection with Dharmasthala police station Crime No. 169/2016, registered under Sections 379 and 201 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

He was arrested from Chittoor on Tuesday, June 30, by Dharmasthala police personnel Vrushabh and Charan Raj.

The accused was produced before the court on July 1, 2026, following which he was remanded to judicial custody.
