Bantwal: Auto-rickshaw driver dies of cobra bite in Kolnadu

Bantwal, Jul 2: A 50-year-old auto-rickshaw driver lost his life after being bitten by a cobra at Serkala Kudkar in Kolnadu village of Bantwal taluk on the morning of July 2. The victim breathed his last while being transported to the hospital.

The deceased has been identified as Hasainar, son of Sulaiman, a resident of Serkala Kudkar.

The incident occurred on Thursday morning when Hasainar attempted to lift a grass-cutting machine kept near his house. A cobra, which had taken shelter near the machine, bit him.

Locals who were alerted to the incident immediately rushed a critically ill Hasainar to a private hospital in Kalladka. However, while he was being shifted to a hospital in Kankanady, Mangaluru, for advanced medical treatment, he succumbed to the venom en route.

As soon as the information was received, local snake rescuer Haider arrived at the spot and successfully captured the cobra, which was hiding near the grass-cutting machine.
