Bengaluru, Jul 2: A bomb threat targeting the headquarters of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in north Bengaluru triggered panic on Thursday before police declared it a hoax following a comprehensive security sweep.

According to police sources, unidentified persons sent an email warning of an explosion at the ISRO headquarters.

Soon after the alert was received, bomb disposal squads, anti-sabotage teams, sniffer dog squads and personnel from the Sanjaynagar Police Station were rushed to the premises.

Following the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), security agencies conducted a thorough search of the campus and found no suspicious objects.

Police later declared the bomb threat a hoax.

An investigation has been launched to trace the origin of the email and identify those responsible for issuing the false threat, police said.
