Christ King Educational Institutions inaugurate co-curricular activities for academic year 2026-27

Karkala, Jul 3: Christ King Educational Institutions inaugurated their co-curricular activities for the academic year 2026-27 at the institution's auditorium.

The program was inaugurated by renowned Yakshagana female-role artiste Shashikanth Shetty, who lit the ceremonial lamp to formally launch the training sessions for the year's co-curricular activities.

Speaking on the occasion, Shashikanth Shetty said, "A lamp may remain in one place, but its light spreads everywhere. Likewise, children should excel in various arts and become shining lights in society. Educational institutions must create opportunities to nurture and develop the diverse talents of students."

Chief guest K Gunapala Kadamba, veteran of the Kambala field and retired principal of Jain PU College, Moodbidri, said that success comes only through complete dedication. He appreciated the institution's initiative in identifying and nurturing the hidden talents of students through structured co-curricular training.

The trainers for various co-curricular activities who were present on the dais, Subrahmanya Navada (Bharatanatyam), Royston (Band), Satish Belman (Karate), Umanath Kaup (Chess), Jason Rebello (Keyboard), Satish Madivala (Yakshagana), Durgesh (Chende), and Vidwan Yashwanth M G (Classical Music), alos conveyed their best wishes to the students.

Presiding over the function, Dr Peter Fernandes, member of the Christ King Education Trust, said that education should not merely be like a sack filled with paddy, but like a fertile field that grows paddy. He added that just as a tree is beautiful only when it bears flowers and fruits, a child's education becomes complete only when academics are complemented by co-curricular activities.

The program began with a welcome address and introductory remarks by I Christopher Kotian, Headmaster of the Senior Primary Section.

Teachers Jayalakshmi and Shaili Hegde introduced the guests. The program was compered by Umesh Bellipadi, Kannada Lecturer of the institution, while Deepthi, Assistant Teacher of the Primary Section, proposed the vote of thanks.

Among those present on the dais were Lakshminarayana Kamath, principal of the Pre-University section; Josna Snehalatha, headmistress of the High School section; and Sister Jolly Jacob, headmistress of the Junior Primary Section.
