Mangaluru, Jul 3: A 46-year-old scooter rider lost his life on the spot after a container lorry collided with his vehicle and ran over him. The fatal accident took place on National Highway 66, opposite the VRL office at Kulur, around 6:15 pm on Friday, July 3.
The deceased has been identified as Sadananda Shettigar (46).
According to the available information, Shettigar was riding his scooter (KA 19 HT 5288) from Kottara towards Udupi. A container lorry (KA 19 AE 0785), driven by Mohammad Azharuddin, which was travelling on the same road, rammed into the two-wheeler. It is alleged that the lorry was being driven in a reckless and negligent manner. After the collision, the lorry ran over Shettigar, causing severe injuries that resulted in his immediate death at the scene.
The local police visited the spot and a case has been registered in connection with the incident.
