Mangaluru, Jul 4: Ladyhill School (ICSE), Urwa, Mangaluru, organised an orientation programme for the parents and students of grades IX and X on July 9 in the school hall. Recognising parents as vital partners in a child's educational journey, the programme aimed to strengthen the home-school partnership, provide insights into the academic expectations of the board years, and guide students towards academic excellence and informed career choices.
The programme commenced with a prayer service by Tr Ashwini G, seeking god's blessings on the gathering and setting a positive tone for the session. A vibrant welcome dance presented by the students added warmth and enthusiasm to the occasion, creating a cheerful and engaging atmosphere. Tr Sahana extended a cordial welcome to the parents and introduced the resource person, Rajeshwari D Shetty, an esteemed career counsellor, POSH trainer, and teen parenting mentor, whose expertise enriched the programme.


























In her enlightening session on career guidance, Rajeshwari D Shetty emphasised that every child is endowed with unique talents, aspirations, and potential. She highlighted the crucial role of parents in recognizing and nurturing these strengths, enabling children to make confident and meaningful career choices.
Stressing the importance of aligning career paths with a student's interests, aptitude, and abilities, she encouraged parents to guide rather than direct, fostering independence, self-awareness, and informed decision-making in their children's academic and professional journeys.
The principal, Sr Therese Teena AC, delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing the importance of consistent effort, self-discipline, and a positive attitude in achieving academic success. She encouraged parents and students to work in close partnership with the school to create a nurturing and motivating learning environment.
The subject teachers then familiarized the parents with the curriculum, assessment practices, and academic expectations of grades IX and X, providing valuable insights into the learning journey and the strategies required for effective preparation and holistic development.
Ayush Innai from Hyderabad introduced the Learning Management System (LMS), highlighting its key features and demonstrating how it can enhance communication, streamline academic monitoring, and support students' learning journey. Parents were also apprised of the PTA audit report and other important academic guidelines and procedures, ensuring greater transparency and fostering effective collaboration between the school and families throughout the academic year.
The election of the parent-teacher executive committee (PTEC) was conducted by the school administrator, Sr Ida Barboza AC, marking an important step in strengthening parent participation in the school.
The programme concluded with a sincere vote of thanks delivered by Tr Sonia Fernandes, who expressed gratitude to the management, resource person, parents, and staff for their valuable presence and support. The event was efficiently compered by Tr Rithin Joyline D’Almeida, whose poised coordination ensured the smooth flow and success of the programme.
Later, an open house meeting was conducted for the parents of grades IX and X, providing them with an opportunity to assess their children's academic progress and achievements in the first term examination. Parents interacted with the teachers to gain a better understanding of their children's strengths and the areas that required improvement.
The orientation programme proved to be informative and enriching, strengthening the bond between home and school while equipping parents with valuable guidance to support their children's academic growth, career aspirations, and overall development.
