Narrow escape for passengers as massive tree falls on moving car at Charmadi Ghat

Beltangady, Jul 5: The occupants of a moving car had a miraculous narrow escape, sustaining only minor injuries, after a massive tree uprooted and crashed onto their vehicle at the fifth curve of the Charmadi Ghat on Saturday, July 4.

The incident occurred amidst heavy rains and fierce winds lashing the region. The huge tree fell directly onto the car navigating the ghat stretch, causing severe damage to the vehicle. Fortunately, the passengers managed to escape what could have been a fatal tragedy.

As the tree fell right across the middle of the road, vehicular movement on the busy route was completely paralyzed. This resulted in a severe traffic jam that lasted for over an hour, with vehicles stranded in long queues on both sides of the highway.

Upon receiving information, personnel from the concerned departments, assisted by local residents, rushed to the spot and launched an operation to clear the blockade. The tree was eventually removed from the road, and normal traffic was restored. Commuters faced significant inconvenience due to the sudden disruption.
