Kyiv, Jul 6: Russia launched waves of missiles and drones targeting Ukraine's capital Kyiv early Monday, killing at least 10 people and injuring 46 others in one of the latest large-scale attacks on the city, Ukrainian authorities said.
According to Kyiv's City Military Administration, residential areas were among the worst affected, with direct strikes causing extensive damage to apartment buildings.
Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Kyiv City Military Administration, said a residential building in the Podilskyi district partially collapsed, while several multistorey buildings in the Darnytsia district were damaged. Emergency workers were searching through the rubble for survivors, with fears that several people remained trapped.

"These are residential buildings. Places where people slept and lived their ordinary lives," Tkachenko said.
The assault involved waves of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and attack drones, triggering explosions across Kyiv as residents rushed to seek shelter in metro stations and underground facilities.
The latest strike came hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that Russia was preparing another major attack on the capital.
Zelenskyy renewed his appeal to Ukraine's Western allies to strengthen the country's air defence capabilities, particularly by supplying additional Patriot missile system interceptors.
He said delays in replenishing Ukraine's air defence systems would only encourage Russia to continue its military offensive, which has entered its fourth year.
The attack follows another major Russian missile and drone assault on Kyiv last week that left at least 31 people dead, underscoring the continued intensity of the conflict despite ongoing international efforts to end the war.
