Brahmavar, Jul 6: Heavy rain accompanied by strong winds that lashed parts of the district since last night has caused widespread damage, with reports indicating that 15 houses were affected, resulting in losses worth several lac rupees. Amid the adverse weather, a schoolgirl sustained minor injuries after roof tiles from an old school building fell on her.

The incident occurred at around 10 am on Monday at the Brahmavar Board Primary School in Varamballi village. As strong winds swept through the area, roof tiles from the old school building came crashing down, causing minor injuries to the student's leg.

The injured student was attended to immediately, and her condition is reported to be stable.

The heavy rain and gusty winds also led to power outages in several areas, while trees were uprooted at multiple locations, disrupting normal life. Although the southwest monsoon had been relatively weak over the past few days, the sudden spell of strong winds and heavy rain caused damage at several places across the district.
