Beltangady, July 6: A head constable attached to Belthangady police station, identified as HC 404 Malathesh, has been suspended from service following allegations of serious procedural lapses in a warrant arrest case.

According to official sources, the police personnel had apprehended a warrant accused but failed to produce him before the competent court for further legal proceedings, as mandated by law.

It is further alleged that the accused was subsequently facilitated in obtaining the recall of the warrant issued against him.

The alleged irregularities came to light during scrutiny of the case proceedings, prompting departmental action.

Following preliminary findings pointing to dereliction of duty, the police department initiated disciplinary proceedings and placed the head constable under suspension pending a detailed inquiry.
