Beltangady. Jul 7: An auto-rickshaw stolen from Katapady was found abandoned at Mooru Marga in Beltangady town on Monday.
The auto-rickshaw, owned by Mohammed Asif of Katapady, was allegedly stolen on Sunday night and abandoned near Mooru Marga on Monday.
When the owner of a nearby hotel noticed the unattended auto-rickshaw, he informed the Beltangady traffic police. The police checked the vehicle's registration number through an app and identified it as belonging to Mohammed Asif of Katapady. They then contacted him and handed over the auto-rickshaw after he arrived in Beltangady.

According to reports, the owner had gone to the beach with his family on Sunday evening. After returning home, he had inadvertently left the key inside the auto-rickshaw. The thief is believed to have taken advantage of the key left in the vehicle and easily stolen it.
The auto-rickshaw was powered by gas, and the fuel reportedly began running out after it reached Beltangady. It is believed that the thief abandoned the vehicle and fled after it came to a halt. Police also found a diesel can and locks inside the auto-rickshaw.
