Bantwal, Jul 7: Traffic was disrupted for some time on the Mani-Mysuru Road near Mani in Bantwal taluk after a huge tree was uprooted and fell across the road following heavy rain and strong winds on Tuesday morning.

The fallen tree blocked the entire stretch, causing severe inconvenience to motorists. Schoolchildren on their way to classes, employees heading to work and other commuters were stranded and faced considerable difficulty due to the disruption.

As traffic came to a halt, vehicles were diverted through the Kodaje Gadi-Bollukallu road, which served as an alternative route connecting to the national highway.

Later, personnel from the concerned department reached the spot and launched an operation to remove the tree. After the obstruction was cleared, vehicular movement was restored and traffic resumed normally.
