Bangalore: Yeddyurappa Loyalists Boycott Budget Session

Bangalore, Mar 20 (Agencies): A majority of Karnataka's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators supporting former chief minister B.S. Yeddyurappa boycotted the assembly session that began here Tuesday.

The boycott was led by Yeddyurappa who is demanding that he be made chief minister again as the high court March 7 quashed the mining bribery case filed against him on the basis of last July's Lokayukta report.

Yeddyurappa, claiming the support of 70 of the party's 120 members in the 225-member assembly, has set a Tuesday evening deadline for the party's central leaders to remove his successor D.V. Sadananda Gowda from the post.

Gowda is to present the budget Wednesday.

The assembly was adjourned for the day after condoling the death of senior state BJP leader and higher education minister V.S. Acharya. Acharya, 71, died Feb 17 following a heart attack.

Water Resources Minister Basavaraj Bommai told reporters at a resort on Bangalore's outskirts that only a few ministers and legislators supporting Yeddyurappa would attend the 10-day budget session.

The party Central leadership had promised to depute an emissary after the current budget session to resolve the crisis. The assurance has paved way for the Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda to present his maiden budget tomorrow without any hindrance.

"The central leadership will be sending its emissary to Bangalore to resolve the leadership issue and Gowda will present the budget as scheduled tomorrow," Basavaraj Bommai told reporters.

Bommai said the group has demanded that the party convene a legislature party meeting to decide the leadership issue.

The central leadership, especially BJP General Secretary Arun Jaitley, has been in constant touch with B S Yeddyurappa and had detailed talks with him over the issue, Bommai said. "Whatever the central leadership arrives at a decision we will abide by it," Bommai said.

He urged State BJP President K S Eshwarappa to withdraw suspension orders issued to B J Puttaswamy who filed his nomination for Rajya Sabha polls as rebel candidate.

He said since BJP had numbers in the legislature house, they fielded Puttaswamy as the third candidate. "We don't think he is a rebel candidate," he said.

Meanwhile, Gowda said he has been authorised by the party to present the budget tomorrow.
Talking to reporters, he exuded optimism that the crisis would soon be resolved.

Former minister Aravind Limbavally, one of the MLAs, who had proposed the nomination of Puttaswamy for the Rajya Sabha polls has declared that he has withdrawn his signature. He said he did not wish to be identified with any group.

Yeddyurappa and his supporters have been camping at the resort since Sunday night as part of the pressure tactics to achieve his demand.

Sources in the Yeddyurappa camp said the former chief minister has placed several conditions to attend the session. They include announcement of the date for meeting of the party's legislature wing to elect a new leader and Gowda's resignation a day prior to the meeting.

Yeddy was a responsible opposition leader but showed no maturity once he became a CM. He forgot the people, purpose and the principle of administration. State has not seen any development due to the political change for so many years. There is no value add from any politicians in this state rather it is the people who have brought the development. Hence the development is restricted to the city limits. Looks like the people mandate will have to be restructured to bring the glory back to Karnataka

Shame on ongoing internal drama of BJP for leadership like small child is after chocolate.Ever since BJP took over the charge of state administration by Mr.BSY not only name of the Karnataka has been tarnished/eroded but also sanctity of vidhana soudha too has been lost due to their internal squabbling. With so much of confidence, regard, love, respect people have elected their respective representatives from their own constituency just for a change but they proved otherway around.Whichever the party may be,it does not belongs to any particular individual or caste/community.That is collective efforts of all the party people.Hence there does not arise question of dictatorship, autocratic attitude. All are abide by the rules, norms of the party. This rule is applicable to all regardless of their caste, wealth, religion, muscle power for the healthy growth of any party, organization, state or even nation. For any shortcomings/drawbacks compromise is the last solution.Otherwise people who are in the party are called uncivilised/uncultured brutes/animals,not human beings.
Now what is going on by BSY group is utter nonsense when state administration is moving smoothly and in healthy condition under the able stewardship of honorable Mr.Sadananda Gowda, who is very much dedicated, honest, clean, non controversial, smart in handling the state related issues as compared to his predecessor the great BSY,who is selfish and non productive and biggest liability of the state.Central high command should expell him without any compromise rather than pacifying him at the cost of state people. His followers are again proved to be brainless monkeys, total loss to the party.I prefer able, capable, educated, cultured, honest, clean Mr.Sadananda Gowda should continue/remain as chief minister not only for the time being but in future too.Central high command should not bulge not even an inch for BSY's pressure tactics. Jai Ho Shri Sadananda Gowdaji.

All these illiterate creatures (BJP ministers) supporting a no. 1 fraud yeddi, who is under trial clearly shows their involvement and share in all the frauds by yediyurappa. After all they need a strong shelter to cover their dirty deeds. Oh people of Karnataka, at least wake up now and stop supporting such creatures

    Dear Yediyurappa,
Even at this age, you act like child. You have earned wealth and spoilt the name and fame of the party which was known for its principles. Just because of few like you in the party, party lost in the recent elections. You would die like Bangarappa, who lost everything, every support and even his own children disowned him. The same thing is going to happen to you.

    A Question!!
After watching all these BJP (Yeddi Group-power mongers) scenarios (not allowing our clean CM to present the Budget, pressurising him to resign etc), Do u want to caste your valueable votes to these power mongers in the next election?

Simply Guv to act now and invoke ARTICLE 356.There is no option left and in this circumstances, GUV has to ask DVS to prove his majority on one hand if not imposition of President rule and suspending Assembly until all BJP groups unite together.
