Kundapur, Jul 10: A motorcyclist was killed on the spot after a truck collided with his bike on National Highway 66 near Kinara Junction in Koteshwar of the taluk on Thursday July 9.
The deceased has been identified as Bharat Shetty (34), a resident of Kolth near Jannalu in Idur-Kunjnadi.
According to reports, the truck, which was transporting plywood from Kerala to Nashik, was proceeding from Udupi towards Kundapur when it hit the motorcycle travelling along the same route. Bharat fell onto the road and sustained grievous injuries, succumbing at the scene.


Bharat was employed at a paint showroom near Koteshwar and had married only last year. He usually commuted to work by car from his home, but had travelled by motorcycle on Thursday. Local residents alleged that the truck driver, who was reportedly under the influence of alcohol, drove negligently and recklessly, leading to the fatal accident.
Traffic police sub-inspector Anoop Nayak, Sudha Prabhu and other personnel visited the spot and conducted an inspection. A case has been registered at the Kundapur Traffic police station.
