Puttur, Jul 10: An accused against whom 41 arrest warrants had been issued was apprehended by the Puttur Town police in connection with a robbery case registered in 2017.

According to police, on December 22, 2017, three unidentified persons entered a house within the jurisdiction of Puttur Town police station and, after threatening the occupants with a pistol and a knife, robbed them of gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 2.88 lac and cash amounting to Rs 6 lac. A case was registered at the Puttur Town police station as Crime No. 200/2017.

One of the accused, Nelson C V (38), a resident of Thrissur, Kerala, had remained absconding since August 27, 2021, after failing to appear before the court for trial. As he repeatedly violated the court’s directions, a total of 41 arrest warrants had been issued against him.

On July 8, head constable Santosh A (HC 413), police constable Vinayak (PC 2347), and police constable Shivaraj (PC 454) of Puttur Town police traced and took the accused into custody at Miyur in Thrissur district, Kerala, and produced him before the competent court.

As the accused had earlier obtained conditional bail and subsequently failed to appear before the court, repeatedly violating the bail conditions, a separate case has also been registered against him at Puttur Town police station as Crime No. 80/2026 under Section 269 of the Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
