Gujarat, Jul 11: Vineeta Singh, co-founder and CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics, exemplifies how perseverance can transform setbacks into success.

Born in 1983 in Anand, Gujarat, Vineeta Singh grew up in a family that valued education and perseverance. After schooling at Delhi Public School, R K Puram, she earned a degree in electrical engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Madras and later completed her MBA at Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. Rather than accepting a lucrative job offer after business school, she chose the uncertain path of entrepreneurship.

Her first two ventures failed to take off, bringing financial losses and uncertainty. Yet, rather than giving up, Singh treated these setbacks as learning experiences. In 2012, she and her husband, Kaushik Mukherjee, launched a beauty subscription service that helped them understand Indian consumers’ needs. Building on those insights, they founded SUGAR Cosmetics in 2015, creating high-performance, cruelty-free products tailored to Indian skin tones and preferences. The brand rapidly expanded across online and offline channels, establishing itself as one of India’s leading home-grown beauty companies.

Singh’s journey is a testament to resilience and conviction. From turning down a coveted corporate career to overcoming early failures and building a nationally recognized brand, she has inspired a generation of aspiring entrepreneurs. Her role as an investor on the TV show Shark Tank India and her achievements in endurance sports further reflect the discipline and determination that define her success story.
