Bus conductor arrested for allegedly harassing college students in Mangaluru

Mangaluru, Jul 11: The City South police have arrested a bus conductor on charges of allegedly sexually harassing college students aboard a private bus.

The accused has been identified as Irfan (32), a resident of Kalleri House, Uppinangady, Puttur. He was presently residing in a rented house owned by Abubakar at Karvelu, Uppinangady. He was employed as a conductor on a private bus operating on the Mangaluru–Vittal route.

According to the police, at around 5 pm on July 9, the accused allegedly targeted college students travelling on the bus, exposed himself, made obscene gestures and called the students to the rear seat, thereby subjecting them to sexual harassment. A case was registered at the Mangaluru South police station, and the accused was arrested on July 10.

Further investigation is in progress.
