Sullia, Jul 11: Sullia police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against a man for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl on multiple occasions.
According to police, the complaint was lodged by the headmaster of the school where the survivor is studying. The incident came to light after the girl remained absent from school. During an inquiry into her absence, she allegedly revealed that her neighbour, identified as Manjunath, who was known to her, had repeatedly subjected her to sexual assault.

The alleged offences took place between June 22 and July 9, 2026, during which the accused is said to have taken the girl to his house and sexually assaulted her several times.
Based on the complaint, Sullia police registered a case (Crime No. 94/2026) under Sections 64(2)(m) and 65(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and Sections 4, 5(l) and 6 of the POCSO Act. Investigation is in progress.
