Bantwal, July 12: The Rs 26.18 crore redevelopment of Bantwal railway station has been completed, with the revamped facility set to be inaugurated soon. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who virtually laid the foundation stone for the project in 2024, is expected to virtually dedicate the station to the nation on July 17.
The station has been redeveloped under the second phase of the Centre's flagship Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) and is among four railway stations in the South Western Railway zone to undergo comprehensive modernisation under the programme.

Executed at an estimated cost of Rs 26.18 crore, the project has transformed Bantwal railway station into a modern, safe and passenger-friendly transit hub equipped with upgraded infrastructure and enhanced commuter amenities.
As part of the redevelopment, the station's waiting halls and ticket booking counters have been modernised, offering more space and improved seating facilities. The circulating area has also been upgraded, while separate vehicle drop-off and pick-up zones have been developed to streamline traffic movement around the station.
The makeover includes full-length platform shelters, improved platform surfaces, renovated interiors, modern furniture, upgraded lighting, landscaping, and newly constructed entrance and exit arches, significantly enhancing both the station's appearance and passenger convenience.
The station has also been equipped with high-quality LED lighting, platform name boards, signages, façade lighting, coach and train indication boards, a modern public address (PA) system and clocks to improve passenger information and overall travel experience.
Under the second phase of the Amrit Bharat Station scheme, a total of 75 railway stations across the country, including four in the South Western Railway zone, have been redeveloped. According to sources, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to virtually inaugurate all 75 redeveloped stations on July 17.
With the redevelopment now complete, Bantwal railway station has emerged as a modern, efficient and passenger-centric railway facility, offering improved safety, better accessibility and enhanced amenities to cater to the growing needs of travellers.
