Mangaluru Head Post Office launches 8 am–8 pm services, expands Sunday facilities

Mangaluru, July 13: The Department of Posts will introduce extended service hours from 8 am to 8 pm at the Mangaluru Head Post Office (HPO) from Monday, July 13, to enhance customer convenience and improve access to postal services.

In a statement, senior superintendent of post dffices, Mangaluru division, Joseph Rodrigues said the Head Post Office at Pandeshwar, near Fiza by Nexus Mall, would provide a comprehensive range of services during the extended hours, including Speed Post and parcel booking, domestic and international parcel booking, Aadhaar enrolment and updation, and Post Office Savings Bank services.

Customers will also be able to invest in a range of small savings schemes at their convenience, including the Sukanya Samriddhi Account, National Savings Certificate (NSC), Kisan Vikas Patra (KVP), Monthly Income Scheme (MIS), Senior Citizens Savings Scheme (SCSS), Time Deposits (TD), Public Provident Fund (PPF) and Pradhan Mantri Jan Suraksha Schemes.

However, Rodrigues clarified that the extended evening postal banking service would not be available for Standardised Agency System (SAS) agents and Mahila Pradhan Kshetriya Bachat Yojana (MPKBY) agents.

He said a dedicated international booking counter, staffed by trained personnel, has been made operational to assist customers with customs-related documentation and procedures, making overseas parcel booking simple and hassle-free.

Exporters and online sellers can also avail themselves of the services of the Dak Ghar Niryat Kendra (DNK) for the booking and transmission of export parcels and e-commerce consignments to customers across the globe.

Rodrigues added that a parcel packaging unit has also been set up at the Head Post Office to ensure the safe and secure packaging of parcels.

Senior postmaster M Lokanath said Aadhaar services, Speed Post booking and parcel booking services would also be available at the Mangaluru Head Post Office on Sundays from 9 am to 5 pm, providing added convenience for working professionals and the general public.
