Mangaluru, Jul 14: The Beltangady police have registered a case against five individuals and a few others following an incident of moral policing at Didupe Falls in Malavantige village on Sunday, July 12.
The case was registered based on a complaint filed by a young woman, a resident of Mangaluru. According to the police, the complainant, who works in Mangaluru, had gone to visit the scenic Didupe Falls along with a male friend on her day off.

When the duo arrived at the parking area near the waterfall, a group of five to six men intercepted them. The men questioned the victim for traveling with a youth belonging to another community. The group then aggressively confronted the duo, hurled verbal abuses at them, and issued life threats.
Following the victim's formal complaint, the Beltangady police registered a case under Crime No. 75/2026.
The accused have been identified as Ranjith, Sudarshan, Swastik, Pradeep, and Deekshith, along with others.
Charges have been framed under Sections 126(2), 352, 351(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. The police have initiated a detailed investigation into the matter and stated that strict legal action will be taken against the culprits.
