Puttur, Jul 18: A car partially caught fire near Shiradigudde at Golitottu on National Highway 75 on Friday evening. The occupants managed to escape safely before the blaze intensified.
The car was travelling from Bengaluru to Mangaluru. As it reached Shiradigudde near Golitottu, smoke and flames were noticed emerging from the vehicle. The driver and a passenger, sensing the danger, immediately stopped the car and got out, escaping without injury.
The fire was brought under control using water from a tanker belonging to KNR, the company executing the NH-75 four-laning project. The engine compartment of the car was completely gutted in the fire, while the rest of the vehicle sustained partial damage.
