Mangalore, Mar 21:
Former minister B Janardhan Poojary, congratulating the people for voting in favour of Congress in Udupi-Chikmagalur bypoll, said that people have shown that they are clever and will not fall prey to any 'casteist gimmick' by BJP.

"With this, people have again demonstrated that they are the king in democracy," he said, while addressing reporters here on Wednesday March 21.

Poojary further said that BJP planned to play caste politics and fielded Sunil Kumar (a Billawa) to divide the votes of the Billawa community. Hence, people belonging to Billawa community deserve additional appreciation, he said.

He also claimed that his defeat in the previous Lok Sabha election was because of cheating by others. "Hence this is an answer by the voters," he said.

On the Congress victory, Poojary said leaders of the party had worked unitedly, and that the issues such as rave party, corruption and others troubling the BJP also worked in favor of Congress.

On the state budget presented by CM Sadananda Gowda, he said the budget does not have any ‘direction’ (vision) and that farmers had been neglected.

About turmoil within the BJP, Poojary said the truce (called by Yeddyurappa) is temporary, and the turmoil would continue to haunt the party.

He also stressed the need for midterm assembly election in the state and challenged BJP to face it.

    Dear Dinesh Shetty, Mangalore/Bahrain

If you don't know the history please do not comment.

Loan Mela was not restricted only to Mangalore/Udupi. Loan Mela was conducted in entire India. Right from Kashmir to Kanyakumari & from Gujurat to West Bengal. Therefore before commenting please know the history properly. When Loan Mela was conducted, the then opposition party in the Parliament has asked "Who is this Poojary?" hence applausing Sri. B. Janardhan Poojary. Looking at the crowd in all over India, for Loan Mela Mamatha Banerjee was really stunned and appreciated Poojary that "Sri. Poojarijhi aap mahaan hai". Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee who was opposition Leader at that time said "Imaandar & Wafaadar Poojary". Brinda Karat from CPI said that "Desh ko Poojarijhi jaise Netha ki zaroorath hai, jho gareebho ke liye samsadh mey awaaz hutaathe hain". Now I hope you might have been enlightened that Loan Mela was not conducted only for Billawas, Bunts, Mogaveers etc etc who mostly reside in the coastal belt of Karnataka, but for entire India. There are still more appreciation received by most of the prominent Leaders from North India during 80's.

Mr Poojary caste politics was started by congress even before the political party called BJP was born. To talk about BJP you are no more saint in doing caste politics. When people from your own community started voting against then you started approaching other community. Before that you are off opinion that only Billawa vote is enough for your victory.

Nice to see congress supporters finally getting a chance to get on the streets to celebrate a election victory after 13 years in Udupi. The last they celbrated was in 1999 when Vinaykumar Sorake had won. Hope they get to repeat the celebrations in Mangalore too atleast in the next election, which will be after 25 years... Great WAIT... as B J Poojary won for Congress last in 1989. All these blind supporters of the congress party do deserve this celebration to be able to lead as blind for the next 25 years.... Good Luck my dear EX CITIZENS.... Keep up your blind faith... and wait in earnest for the sun to shine....

POOR POOJARY DOES NOT KNOW WHY BJP LOST! DVS COULD NOT KEEP UP HIS WORDS TO BSY WHEN HIGH COURT THROWN OUT THE CASE OF BSY TO GOVERNER'S FACE. DVS SHOULD HAVE ALLOWED BSY TO OCCUPY THE CM SEAT. PEOPLE HAVE SYMPATHY ON BSY.
EARLIER ALSO BSY HAD SYMPATHY BECAUSE OF KUMARASWAMY NOT KEPT HIS WORDS. ULTIMATELY BJP LOST ONE MP FOR ITS HIGH COMMAND POLI- TRICKS.

How can Poojary say that BJP follows caste politics ?

Poojary when he was Loan Mela Minister, he helped only people of his community i.e. the Billawa community. He arranged loans for them but it was never repaid and the banks had to write them off . There are skeletons in Poojarys wardrobe.Let him go into sanyasa.

Mr Poojary there was no any cast equation in this election, Congress won because People of Udupi wanted to teach lesson to DVS since he has done nothing during his tenure as MP, moreover he resigned and made them vote again. This is a lesson to all political parties.I agree people voted for Mr Hegde. If you (Mr Poojary) had contested i am sure you would have lost the election.
