Kasargod, July 18: Burglars broke into the Shri Arasu Kripa Veera Maruthi Vyayama Shala at Udyavara Mada in Manjeshwar by forcing open the main entrance and made off with cash from the donation box, in an incident that came to light in the early hours of Saturday.
The theft was discovered at around 5 am when an office-bearer of the gymnasium arrived to make preparations for a scheduled pooja. On reaching the premises, he found the lock on the main entrance had been broken, indicating that the intruders had gained entry by using an iron rod to force it open.

According to the complaint, the burglars entered the gymnasium, smashed open the donation box placed in front of the deity and fled with the cash kept inside. After emptying the box, they allegedly threw it into the bushes in front of the gymnasium before escaping.
Following the incident, Sadananda, president of the gymnasium, lodged a complaint with the Manjeshwar police station.
Police later visited the scene and began an investigation into the burglary. The amount of cash stolen has not yet been disclosed, and efforts are under way to identify those responsible.
