Bantwal: Man arrested for allegedly sharing communally sensitive post on NEET protest

Bantwal, Jul 24: Vittal police have arrested a man for allegedly sharing a derogatory social media post that gave a religious angle to the NEET protest and was allegedly capable of creating enmity between communities and disturbing public peace.

According to the complainant, he is a member of the KFC KHANDIGA WhatsApp group. On Thursday July 23, he noticed a screenshot shared in the group containing messages that were allegedly capable of creating communal disharmony and disturbing public tranquillity.

On verifying the message, it was found that Bharat (36), a resident of Kaipu in Bantwal, had allegedly posted the same content on his WhatsApp status.

Based on the complaint, Vittal Police registered a case in Crime No. 160/2026 under Sections 197(1)(a), 197(1)(c), and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.

Following an investigation, the accused, Bharat, was arrested and is being questioned by the police.
