Udupi, Jul 24: Setting an example of community service, local youths voluntarily filled a dangerous pothole near the mosque in the school area, close to the Robin Bus Stand on the Shirva–Udupi road.
The pothole had posed a serious risk to motorists and two-wheeler riders travelling along the busy stretch.
Recognising the danger, the youths took the initiative to fill the pothole without waiting for official intervention.

Their efforts have made the road safer and provided relief to commuters. The initiative has been widely appreciated by local residents, who praised the youths for their voluntary social service and concern for public safety.
