Beltangady, Jul 25: A motorcyclist had a miraculous escape after a tree fell on his moving bike at Bargula near Shishila on Friday.
The rider, identified as Ratheesh Poojary, a resident of Denodi in Shishila village, was travelling from Kokkada to Shishila when a roadside tree, uprooted by heavy rain and strong winds, fell onto his motorcycle. Fortunately, Ratheesh escaped the incident without sustaining any injuries.
The fallen tree also landed on overhead power lines, disrupting electricity supply in the area.
The incident caused temporary disruption to vehicular traffic. Members of the Dharmasthala Shaurya Disaster Management Force's Arasinamakki-Shishila unit, along with local residents removed the tree and restored the smooth flow of traffic.
Panchayat staff and MESCOM powerman Santosh visited the spot and inspected the situation.
