Udupi, Jul 25: Polio survivor Chidananda Poojary has been elected as the president of the Rotaract Club of Subhash Nagar for the year 2026–27, marking the club's 20th year of leadership.
A dedicated member of the club for nearly two decades, Chidananda has played a pivotal role in the growth of the organization. He has served as the club's secretary on four occasions and has been actively involved in numerous service initiatives.

Despite losing the use of both legs due to polio, Chidananda has overcome physical challenges with remarkable determination and self-confidence. He successfully runs a mobile phone store at Kunjarugiri Cross while continuing to dedicate his time to various social service activities.
Chidananda completed his primary education at Achchada and his high school education at St John's High School, Shankarpura.
In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the Rotaract movement, Chidananda has received several prestigious honours, including the Outstanding Rotaractor Award, Pancharatna Award, Best Secretary Award, and the DR Citation Award.
Apart from his commitment to community service, Chidananda is also a passionate amateur singer. Known for his humble nature, service-minded attitude, and leadership qualities, he enjoys the admiration and respect of fellow Rotaractors and the wider community.
His election as the president of the Rotaract Club of Subhash Nagar for the 2026–27 term has been welcomed with pride and enthusiasm by club members and well-wishers, who are confident that his leadership will further strengthen the club's service initiatives and community outreach.
