Mangaluru, July 26: Konkani Lekhak Sangh (KLS), Karnataka, successfully organised a literary programme at the Mini Hall of the Sandesha Foundation for Culture and Education, Mangaluru.
The highlight of the event was an engaging interview with noted Konkani personality Machcha Milar (Marcel D'Souza), conducted by Lloyd Taccode. The interactive session captivated the audience with its insightful discussions and reflections on literature and culture. The programme commenced with a solemn Pushpanjali in memory of the late veteran Konkani writer Manu Baherain.
Eminent personalities Dolphy Lobo and Cassia paid heartfelt tributes, recalling his immense contributions to Konkani literature and his lasting influence on the literary community.
The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Richard Moras, convenor of Konkani Lekhak Sangh Karnataka; Dr. Edward Nazareth, member of the Konkani Lekhak Sangh Karnataka Committee; Stany Alvares, president of the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy; Rosy Lobo, wife of the late Manu Bahrain; Stevan Lobo, his son; and numerous renowned Konkani writers, literary enthusiasts, and members of the community.
Addressing the gathering, Stany Alvares lauded the efforts of Konkani Lekhak Sangh Karnataka in organising a meaningful literary event and emphasised the need to promote the Konkani language and literature through interactive programmes such as interviews, discussions, and literary exchanges.
The programme was compered by Konkani Lekhak Sangh Karnataka Committee member Henry Mascarenhas, whose engaging presentation ensured the smooth conduct of the event. Writer Lavi Ganjimat proposed the vote of thanks, expressing sincere appreciation to the dignitaries, participants, and audience for their enthusiastic support and contribution to the programme's success.
The event celebrated the richness of Konkani literature while providing an excellent platform for literary dialogue and cultural exchange. It also reinforced the commitment of Konkani Lekhak Sangh Karnataka to fostering literary appreciation and strengthening the cultural bonds within the Konkani-speaking community.
