Beltangady serial theft case: Spot inspection conducted with accused

Beltangady, Jul 28: Police on Monday conducted a spot inspection in connection with the serial theft case reported on the night of May 19, during which thefts took place at 11 locations, including a hotel near Mooru Marga in Beltangady town.

A team led by Beltangady police sub-inspector Sikandar Pasha had arrested the accused, Jayakumar, a native of Coimbatore, in connection with a theft case at Guruvayanakere on July 8.

Jayakumar, who is currently lodged in Mangaluru jail, was produced before the court and taken into police custody for two days. He was then brought to Beltangady, where the police conducted a spot inspection by making him identify the hotel and five other nearby locations where he had allegedly committed the thefts.
