Amroha, Jul 29: Proving that big dreams are not limited to big cities, Surabhi Yadav, a girl from a small village in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district, has secured the All India Rank (AIR) 14 in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2025.

Daughter of a police inspector, Surabhi’s stellar achievement has brought immense pride to her family and hometown. She hails from Nasir Nangla, a village under the Naugawan Sadat police station limits. Her father, Rakesh Kumar Yadav, is currently serving as a police inspector in Bareilly. Inspired by her father's uniform and his struggles, she aimed for the civil services from a young age and prepared for the prestigious examination while living with him in Bareilly.

Academic brilliance

Surabhi has been academically bright since her school days. She completed her 10th-grade education at SR International Inter College in Bareilly and her 12th grade at Army Public School, scoring an impressive 96% in the humanities stream. She then moved to Delhi, where she pursued her graduation with a BA (honours) in history at the prestigious Lady Shri Ram College under Delhi University. Following her graduation, she completed her master's degree, also in history, from Jamia Millia Islamia.

Overcoming failure

The path to success was not without its hurdles for Surabhi. She had previously appeared for the UPSC examination in 2023. Despite putting in rigorous effort, she narrowly missed the final selection by a margin of just 10 marks. Undeterred by the setback, she continued her preparation with unwavering determination and bounced back to secure the 14th rank nationwide in her latest attempt.
