Glasgow, Jul 29: India continued its impressive run at the Commonwealth Games 2026, with Gulveer Singh and Harjinder Kaur winning silver medals on Day 6, while the country's boxing contingent guaranteed at least three more podium finishes by advancing to the semi-finals.

The twin silver medals took India's overall tally to 12, helping the nation climb to ninth place in the medal standings as the campaign gathered momentum in Glasgow.

Harjinder Kaur delivered the best performance of her career to claim silver in the women's 69kg weightlifting event with a combined lift of 227kg. The 29-year-old successfully lifted 101kg in the snatch and 126kg in the clean and jerk to finish behind Canada's Charlotte Simonneau, who won gold with a total of 236kg. Australia's Phoebe Heyman claimed the bronze medal with a lift of 218kg.

In athletics, Gulveer Singh scripted history by clinching silver in the men's 10,000m final. The 27-year-old, who serves as a Naib Subedar in the Indian Army, produced a sensational finish in the final lap, moving from fourth place to second. He clocked 27:49.78, finishing just 0.85 seconds behind Australia's Kai Robinson, who secured the gold medal.

India's boxing campaign also received a major boost, with multiple boxers progressing to the semi-finals to ensure at least three medals for the country, irrespective of the final outcomes.

With the latest additions, India has now won two gold, seven silver and three bronze medals at the Games.

Australia continues to dominate the medal standings with 80 medals, including 35 golds, while India will look to build on its growing momentum in the remaining events of the Games.
