Mangaluru: Music lovers soak in retro Bollywood magic at 10th 'Suhana Safar' by Kumble Brothers

Mangaluru, Jul 29: The 10th edition of the 'Suhana Safar' musical event, titled 'Suhana Safar & Rimjhim Gire Saawan', was organised by Kumble Brothers in association with Lions Club Mangaluru on Saturday, July 26, at the Sujir C V Nayak Hall on Kadri Road.

The event was inaugurated by former mlc Capt Ganesh Karnik by lighting the lamp. In his address, he appreciated the efforts of Kumble Brothers in promoting old melodies alongside their service activities, notably their donation of Rs 25,000 to various charitable trusts and needy patients. Marking Kargil Vijay Diwas, Capt Karnik recalled the sacrifices of the Indian soldiers, and the entire gathering paid tribute by observing a minute of silence for the martyred jawans of the Kargil conflict.

Chief guest Walter Nandalike, founder and editor-in-chief of Daijiworld, complimented Kumble Brothers for promoting the event. He remarked that they serve as role models for senior citizens by remaining socially active and spreading happiness among music lovers.

The event was graced by several guests of honour, including Dr Kumble Ananth Prabhu, professor of surgery at Yenepoya Medical College; Showkath Showry, managing director of Blueline Foods Pvt Ltd; Sampath Shetty, managing director of Lotus Properties; Rajesh Shetty, vice president of Cauvery TATA; Balakrishna Shetty, manager at Winzetta Pharma; Mohammed Saleem, co-founder and ceo of Soult Digital Pvt Ltd; M Raghavendra Kudva, director of RVK Steel & Alloys; and Kumble Vignesh Prabhu, ceo of Kumble Solar Energy Solutions Pvt Ltd.

Ln Hema Rao, president of Lions Club Mangaluru, welcomed the gathering. Kumble Narasimha Prabhu spoke about the musical event and the charitable activities integrated into the programme. Ln Nancy Mascarenhas proposed the vote of thanks, while Ln Bharathi Pushparajan compered the formal stage programme.

The musical extravaganza, which ran from 6:00 pm to 8:45 pm, featured timeless melodies originally sung by legends like Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar, Manna Dey, Asha Bhosle, and Mukesh. A special tribute was also paid to legendary singers S Janaki and Suman Kalyanpur through renditions of their popular tracks.

The lead singers for the evening included Dr Kumble Ananth Prabhu and Sa Re Ga Ma Pa jury member Malini Keshav Prasad. They were joined by a lineup of talented vocalists including Umakanth Nayak, Rohith Shenoy, Rachana Kamath, Tanvi Shenoy, Apeksha Pai, and Rajesh Kamath. National fame Kumble Narasimha Prabhu engaged the audience as the master of ceremonies and through his stand-up comedy performances. Nearly 650 music enthusiasts attended and enjoyed the melodious evening.
