New Delhi, Jul 29: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday launched a scathing attack on the BJP-led Centre during the debate on the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, alleging that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) exercises control over the country's education system.
Participating in the discussion on the anti-paper leak legislation, the Congress leader claimed that replacing the education minister alone would not bring any meaningful change to the education system.

"The RSS has captured the examination system. RSS members occupy every major position. Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation will not change anything because he was only a symbol. The RSS is running the country's education system. Every university has an RSS vice chancellor," Gandhi alleged.
He further claimed that the country's educational institutions were being influenced by the RSS, asserting that the organisation, and not the former Education Minister, was driving decisions related to the education sector.
The remarks came during a heated debate on the proposed legislation aimed at strengthening measures to prevent unfair practices and paper leaks in public examinations. The BJP is yet to respond in detail to Gandhi's allegations in the House.
