Mangaluru, July 29: Five persons, including a four-year-old child, sustained injuries after the car they were travelling in collided with a stationary tipper truck at Mairakatte in Perne near Uppinangady on July 28.

The injured have been identified as car driver Mohammed Farooq (31) and passengers Fatimath Tappiya (25), Zulaikha (52), Mohammed Afghaan (15) and four-year-old Mohammed Ildan.

The victims, all originally from Farangipete, were travelling towards Uppinangady from Farangipete when the accident occurred.

According to reports, a tipper truck had been parked on the roadside at Mairakatte, and the car, approaching from behind, crashed into the rear of the stationary vehicle.

The impact left all five occupants of the car injured. They were provided medical attention following the accident.

A case has been registered at the Puttur Traffic police station regarding the incident, and further proceedings are under way.
