Ranchi, Jul 29: Thousands of job aspirants took to the streets of Ranchi on Wednesday, staging a massive protest against alleged irregularities, discrepancies and pending demands linked to recruitment examinations conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC).

The protesters organised a ‘Constitution March’ from Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium to Albert Ekka Chowk, with candidates arriving from various districts across Jharkhand. The march began around 4 pm and witnessed a large turnout despite intermittent rainfall.

The protesters briefly halted due to heavy rain but resumed the march after conditions improved. Carrying banners and placards, they raised slogans demanding transparency, accountability and a fair recruitment process.

Some of the banners displayed during the protest read, “Stop playing with the future of JPSC aspirants”, “End manipulation in the Excise Constable recruitment process”, “Fix accountability in JPSC and JSSC” and “Tell us the price of a JPSC seat, we are arranging the money”.

The aspirants warned that if the government fails to address their demands, they would convert Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium into a permanent protest venue similar to Delhi’s Jantar Mantar and launch an indefinite dharna.

They said hundreds of candidates would begin an indefinite sit-in protest at the stadium and intensify the agitation in phases until their demands are met.

Security arrangements were tightened across the protest route, with a large police contingent deployed to maintain law and order.

The march also affected traffic movement in several parts of Ranchi. Long queues of vehicles were reported from Kachahari Chowk to Albert Ekka Chowk, with congestion extending to Main Road, Radium Road and Lalpur Road, causing slow traffic movement for several hours.

The protest continued till late Wednesday evening as the aspirants awaited a response from the government and decided on their next course of action.
