Media Release

Udupi, Jul 31: The IEEE Student Branch SMVITM, IEEE CEDA Bangalore Chapter and the Entrepreneurship Development Cell, SMVITM, jointly organised an entrepreneurship awareness session titled "Fresher’s to Venture" on Tuesday, July 28, at the institute premises. The session was conducted for students interested in entrepreneurship, innovation, and start-up development.

The resource person for the session was Dr Jyoti Bhat, co-founder of Next Scale Tech Private Limited, Bengaluru, and Adjunct Professor at IIM Bengaluru. Drawing from her extensive entrepreneurial and academic experience, she delivered an engaging and insightful session on the entrepreneurial mindset and start-up ecosystem.

During the session, Dr Jyoti Bhat highlighted how the knowledge and skills acquired during a BE/BTech programme provide a strong foundation for entrepreneurial thinking. She introduced students to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, dispelled common myths surrounding start-ups, and emphasised the importance of identifying real-world problems that can be transformed into viable business opportunities.

The session also covered key concepts such as problem–solution fit, market fit, and product validation through practical frameworks and real-world case studies. Participants were encouraged to think creatively, develop an innovation-driven mindset, and explore entrepreneurship as a promising career path.

The interactive session inspired students to view engineering education beyond academics and recognise its potential in creating innovative products and impactful ventures. The programme successfully motivated aspiring entrepreneurs to translate their ideas into meaningful solutions that address societal and industry challenges.

Chaithra Pai, a 3rd year ECE student welcomed the gathering and compered the programme. Dr Nagaraja Rao, IEEE Student branch counsellor, coordinated the programme.
