Visakhapatnam, Jul 31: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth over Rs 17,900 crore during his visit to Andhra Pradesh on Saturday.
The Prime Minister will attend the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district, where he will launch several infrastructure and industrial projects.
Among the key projects is the ASIP Semiconductor Project at Visakhapatnam, for which Modi will lay the foundation stone. The facility, being developed with an investment of over Rs 460 crore by ASIP Technologies Pvt Ltd in partnership with APACT, Republic of Korea, will be Andhra Pradesh's first semiconductor manufacturing unit approved under the India Semiconductor Mission.
The facility is expected to manufacture around 96 million semiconductor chips annually, generate high-skilled employment and support the development of an ancillary ecosystem for semiconductor manufacturing.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Transmission System for Integration of Kurnool-IV Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Phase-I (4.5 GW), being implemented by POWERGRID through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) at an estimated cost of about Rs 5,550 crore.
He will dedicate to the nation the Transmission System for Kurnool Wind Energy Zone/Solar Energy Zone (Andhra Pradesh) — Part A and Part B, developed at a cost of around Rs 3,550 crore.
Another project to be inaugurated is the Transmission Scheme for Solar Energy Zone in Ananthapuram (2,500 MW) and Kurnool (1,000 MW), implemented by POWERGRID at a cost of over Rs 820 crore.
The transmission projects will enable evacuation of renewable energy generated from Kurnool and Ananthapuram renewable energy zones and facilitate its transmission to beneficiaries across the country through the National Grid.
The projects are expected to help integrate large volumes of renewable energy into the power grid, improve availability of clean energy at demand centres and support India's energy transition by reducing dependence on fossil fuel-based power generation.
Modi will also dedicate and lay the foundation stone for National Highway projects worth over Rs 1,880 crore.
The highway projects to be dedicated include the four-lane access-controlled Greenfield highway from Recherla to Guruvaygudem on NH-365BG, the four-lane access-controlled Greenfield highway from Guruvaygudem to Devarapalle on NH-365BG, and the four-lane Tadipatri Bypass on NH-67.
The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for a high-level bridge at Lingasamudram on the Penchalakona–Yerpedu section of NH-565.
The road projects are expected to reduce congestion in Vijayawada and other cities, improve road safety, shorten travel distance and travel time between Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad, and strengthen regional connectivity.
