New Delhi, Aug 1: The Election Commission (EC) has extended the schedule for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana, with the final electoral roll now set to be published on October 19, 2026.

The Commission said October 1, 2026, will be treated as the qualifying date for the revision exercise. The decision follows a request from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Telangana seeking additional time to complete voter enumeration.

According to the revised schedule issued by Election Commission Secretary Pawan Diwan, house-to-house verification by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and the rationalisation or rearrangement of polling stations will continue until August 10.

The draft electoral roll will now be published on August 17, following which electors will have a month, from August 17 to September 16, to file claims and objections.

The Commission said the scrutiny and disposal of claims and objections, along with the notice process, will be carried out between August 17 and October 15. The final electoral roll will be published on October 19.

The EC has directed election authorities in Telangana to widely publicise the revised schedule through various media platforms and inform all recognised political parties in writing.

Meanwhile, the Commission on Friday released the draft electoral rolls for Andhra Pradesh after completion of the enumeration phase of the Special Intensive Revision.

According to the Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer's office, 3,71,38,182 electors, representing 89.22 per cent of the state's total 4,16,27,694 registered voters, submitted their Enumeration Forms during the exercise conducted from June 15 to July 24.

The Commission also said that 15.22 lakh electors were identified as deceased during the verification process.

In a separate development, the EC has extended the deadline for filing claims and objections under the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Odisha from August 4 to August 19.

The extension was granted following a request from the Odisha Chief Electoral Officer. The revision exercise in the state is being conducted with July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date. The Commission said all other aspects of the revision process will continue as per the revised schedule.
