Mangaluru, Aug 1: Ladyhill School (ICSE) conducted a professional development session on 'Service Learning and Action Research' for the teaching faculty in the school hall. The programme introduced innovative, learner-centred approaches that connect classroom learning with real-world experiences, while encouraging reflective, research-based teaching to enhance meaningful learning and holistic student development.
The programme commenced with a prayer service led by Tr Lynnet, invoking God's blessings for a fruitful and enriching learning experience. Tr Nisha extended a heartfelt welcome to the resource person and the faculty, highlighting the vital role of continuous professional growth in empowering educators to inspire meaningful learning and positive change.
The resource person Dr Sr M Clare A C, retired principal of St Ann's College of Education, Mangaluru, captivated the audience with her profound insights and extensive experience in the field of education. Through an engaging and thought-provoking presentation, she highlighted the transformative potential of service learning in creating meaningful connections between classroom learning and community engagement.
She encouraged educators to move beyond conventional teaching by designing authentic learning experiences that inspire empathy, collaboration, and responsible citizenship. Elaborating on Action Research, she emphasised the importance of reflective practice, urging teachers to observe, analyse, and refine their teaching strategies to foster continuous improvement and enhance student learning outcomes.
The session was enriched with interactive discussions, collaborative activities, and practical examples that motivated teachers to reflect on their own classroom practices. The teaching faculty enthusiastically exchanged ideas and explored innovative ways to integrate Service Learning and Action Research into the curriculum, making learning more experiential, purposeful, and impactful.
