Glasgow, Aug 1: Indian boxers produced a historic performance at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, rewriting the record books with an unprecedented gold medal haul as Arundhati Choudhary, Priya Ghanghas and Sakshi Chaudhary added to the country's golden run on Saturday, while Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain settled for silver.
Arundhati Choudhary delivered India's fifth boxing gold medal of the day with a commanding 5-0 victory over England's Chantelle Reid, a bronze medallist at the 2025 World Championships, in the final.
The victory confirmed India's best-ever performance in Commonwealth Games boxing history, with the Indian contingent surpassing its previous record of three gold medals achieved at the New Delhi 2010, Gold Coast 2018 and Birmingham 2022 editions.
Earlier, Priya Ghanghas continued India's gold rush in Glasgow by defeating Canada's Marie-Bathoul Al-Ahmadieh in the women's 60kg final. Priya secured a hard-fought 4-1 split decision victory to claim India's fourth gold medal of the day.
Before Priya's triumph, Sakshi Chaudhary extended India's dominant display in the boxing arena by clinching the women's 51kg title with a comprehensive 5-0 victory over England's Ruby White. The win marked India's third boxing gold medal of the day.
Sakshi's success followed earlier gold medal victories by Jaismine Lamboria and Preeti Pawar, who had triumphed in their respective categories, while Jadumani Singh had secured a silver medal after a spirited contest against Australia's Jye Dixon in the men's 55kg final.
The only setback for India's boxing contingent came in the women's 75kg final, where Olympic medallist Lovlina Borgohain was forced to settle for silver after losing to Australia's Emma-Sue Greentree.
Lovlina suffered a 1-4 defeat in the final, with Greentree securing the Commonwealth Games title after the judges awarded the Australian the victory.
With a record-breaking medal tally, India's boxers have produced their finest-ever Commonwealth Games campaign, marking a landmark achievement for the country's boxing programme in Glasgow.
